Joshua 13:1 says, “When Joshua was very old, the Lord said to him, “Joshua, you have grown old, but there is still much land for you to take.”
At 110 years of Age he had accomplished much of what God had commanded Moses to do. He had defeated numerous enemies of the Lord’s people and had established their presence in the Promised land. But there is always more to do.
So too with us as we look forward to 2009. We have had many victories over many obstacles in life, fought with and defeated many personal problems, have eliminated many “bad influences” in our lives and bad habits, but until the Lord returns or takes us home to be with himself, there remains “a lot of land to be conquered.” Don’t rest on your laurels!
I would like to be able to say what Paul said in 2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
