It’s interesting to notice that like the other plagues the plague of darkness came when Moses, at God’s command, “stretched out his hand.”

When God stretches out his hand something always happens. In the case of the proud, hard hearted, unbelieving, Pharaoh, what happened was judgment. That seems to be the way God stretches out his hand to the proud, unbelieving and hard hearted of every age.

But when a Leper came to Jesus and pleaded with Jesus, on his knees, with a prayer of faith, saying, “if you will, you can make me clean.” Mark 1:41 says, “Jesus, moved with pity, …stretched out his hand and touched him and said, ‘I will; be clean.’ And immediately the leprosy left him, and he was made clean.”

Also when Peter attempted his famous “walk across the water” the bible says, “but seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, ‘Lord, save me!’ Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him and said, to him, ‘you of little faith, why did you doubt.'”

In exodus 10:3, after the 8th plague, God says to Pharaoh, “how long will you refuse to humble yourself in my presence?”

A good question for us all to consider because God stretches out his hand to each of us.
