Living life God’s way is always the best way. The world will throw hurdles before us. We all encounter obstacles. In this world we won’t be free of slips and trips. But God has given us a path to follow and if we stay on it we’re pretty safe. The wisest man in the world tell us in Proverbs 4:11 & 12, “I will teach you wisdom’s ways and lead you in straight paths. When you walk, you won’t be held back; when you run, you won’t stumble.”

There are several great thoughts for us the short 121st Psalm. The one that struck me this morning is from the third and fourth verses. The Psalmist tells us something about our God. In these verses he explains how Solomon can promise that we’ll never stumble along God’s way of life. He writes, “He will not let you stumble; the one who watches over you will not slumber. Indeed, he who watches over Israel never slumbers or sleeps.”

Unlike the Baal’s of the world who have to take breaks from their ominous tasks over watching over their worshippers, Our God is ever vigilant. There is always someone watching over us as we walk life’s paths. If we stay on the straight and narrow, we have God’s protection all the time. He never takes a break.

There is an eye that never sleeps,
Beneath the wing of night;
There is an ear that never shuts,
When sink the beams of light;
There is an arm that never tires.
When human strength gives way;
There is a love that never fails,
When earthly loves decay.
