Moses knew that his time to die was at hand and he gathered the people together and he challenged them to accomplish the mission God had given them of taking the Promised Land. He told them that they must go in and drive out the giants that had scared them away 40 years earlier. He said in Deuteronomy 31:6, “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”

When we lift our faces in the presence of our enemies and notice their size it’s only natural to be frightened. They are bigger than we are! They are stronger than we are. They are outside of our control for the most part! We can’t choose the diagnosis! We can’t make those we love say and/or do the right things. We can’t manipulate the market to guarantee an income. We can’t command the winds and clouds and temperature to behave. We can’t calm the storms! And we don’t even know what tomorrow may hold. But we do know who holds tomorrow. We know the one who heals diseases, calm storms, feeds the 5000, calls the dead back from the grave, and calms the fears of all who sit at his feet and listen. In a very real way, its Jesus saying to you and me the words of Deuteronomy 31:6 (NCV), “Be strong and brave. Don’t be afraid of them and don’t be frightened, because the Lord your God will go with you. He will not leave you or forget you.”

Just listen, “Lo, I am with you always even to the end of the age.” – Jesus!
