It is DESPAIR that says, “I envy those who are dead and gone; they are better off than those who are still alive. But better off than either are those who have never been born…” (Good News) Do you recognize it? Despair, I mean. When we look at the world around us from a human perspective, we must conclude with Solomon, “It is all so pointless and depressing.” (Living Bible) Shakespeare said it this way, “O God! O God! How weary, stale, flat and unprofitable Seem to me all the uses of this world.”
“But happy are those who have the God of Israel as their helper, whose hope is in the Lord their God.” Psalm 146:5
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is our hope today. It is our assurance that we have a living Savior to help us live as we should now, and that when, in the end, we set forth on that last great journey, we shall not travel an uncharted course, but rather we shall go on a planned voyage-life to death to eternal living.
