Psalm 53 is one of my favorite Psalms. It begins with one of the Bible’s most famous quotations: “The fool says in his heart, there is no God.” Then in verses 2 and 3 David pictured God lookikng down from heaven and examing human beings individually. Wise people acknowledge God’s presence and pursue Him because He is the source of all goodness and blessing. Fools disregard Him and go their own way.

We all know that Romans 3:23 says that everyone has sinned! But did you know that Paul was quoting vs 3 of this Psalm. “Everyone has turned away, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one!”

The word for corrupt in Hebrew literally means “sour milk.” The whole race has become sour like milk. When people do not use milk for its intended purpose, namely to drink, it turns sour.  Likewise when people do not use their lives for their intended purpose, namely to honor and glorify God, they spoil.

But Christ saves us from ourselves! We have new life and a new destiny through our faith in Him! Jesus died for fools, of which I’m pretty high up on the list!
