Psalm 29 praises God as the “rider on the Storm.” Like a jockey directs his mount so too does God direct the weather. The thunder that shakes the mountains is said to be God’s voice. The lightning that splits mighty oak trees in half is his spear! The winds that strip the trees of their leaves is his breath! The whole earth shakes and shivers in His wake. The animals run for cover, the mountains shiver, the deserts quake and man trembles in fear at God’s majesty. However…

The last two verses are addressed specifically to God’s people; to those who love Him and serve Him. They say: The Lord gives his people strength. The Lord blesses them with peace.
