In 1 Sam 22, Saul destroys the priests of Nob who aided David in his escape. When David gets word of that destruction he turns again to God. He writes Psalm 52 at this time and he talks of God as his gardener who watches over him carefully and will protect him.

In Verse 8, David say, “I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God.” David is not some wild flower or weed growing on its own without  care. David is a prized plant, nourished, watered, cared for by the Great Gardener Himself. So what does he need to be afraid of? He concludes, “I trust in God’s unfailing love for ever and ever.”

Lord, no matter what happens today, help me to trust in your unfailing love.
