Sin seperates man from God. Leviticus teaches us that we cannot approach God because of our sin. But God has made a way! He offered this sacrificial system in order to bring man near to himself because he loved us so much. The Levitical system of worship illustrates the vast distance between God and man due to sin and the need for some means by which man can come back to God. The veil, the curtains, and even the priests separated the ordinary person from God. I’m sure he felt that distance.
Jesus tore the veil in two and opened access to God for us. He is now the one and only means by which God brings man back into his presence. Our sins or atoned for, and the veil is removed! God says to us, “Come in my child.” Jesus speaks for God in Matthew 11, “Come to me, all you who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
