As I read David’s Psalm 101 this morning, it sounded to me like King David was making a list of his New Year resolutions. In verses 2-6, He says:

I will be careful to live an innocent life.

I will live an innocent life in my house.

I will not look at anything wicked.

I will have nothing to do with evil.

I will not allow people to be proud and look down on others.

I will look for trustworthy people

At our men’s bible study at 6am, Tuesday, one of the men shared with us his bible study on the word “resolve” and found a couple examples of them: Daniel resolved that he would not defile himself… Paul resolved to know nothing but Christ crucified.

Resolutions are good. They mark our good intentions and give us something to shoot for. I made my share and found some encouragement today in Moses’ words to the resolutions his people had made. He says, “Don’t waver in resolve. Don’t fear. Don’t hesitate. Don’t panic. God, your God, is right there with you, fighting with you against your enemies, fighting to win.” (Deut 20:3 TM)
