We should sing together as an introduction to this psalm:
“This world is not my home, I’m just a-passin thru
“My Treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue,
“The Angels beckon me from heaven’s open door,
“And I can’t feel at home in this world anymooooorrre!”
Why doesn’t the singer feel at home. The psalmist explains it. This world is full of liars. “They smile so sweetly but lie through their teeth.”TM Everyone is out to get something for themselves and in this life “I’m doomed to live my whole life camping among quarreling neighbors.”TM Further, I don’t dare let down my guard because, although, “I’m all for peace, but the minute I tell them so, they go to war.”TM I think this psalm explains the predicament of believers in the world today. And why I support a strong defensive stand nationally -Militarily. There are Husseins, Hitlers, Quadafys as well as Bundys, Lucas’s, and many others who are evil to the core and must be restrained. If we drop our guard – they will attack. But, this world is not my home!
