The NIV says the words exactly as we sing them in the contemporary Christian song: “Oh, Lord our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth.” Makes you want to say it again doesn’t it?
Everybody knows You, God, simply because the whole creation proclaims your glorious existence! Educated men might argue that He’s not there, but “Nursing infants gurgle choruses about you; toddlers shout the songs that drown out enemy talk and silence atheist babble.” TM
The Living Bible grabs you with verses 3-6: “When I look up into the night skies and see the work of your fingers – the moon and the stars you have made – I cannot understand how you can bother with mere, puny man, to pay attention to him. And yet… you have placed a crown of glory and honor on his head.. and You have put him in charge of everything you made.”LB Or, You put us in charge of your hand crafted world, repeated to us your Genesis-charge.” TM
No wonder the Psalm ends with the same praise it began with, “Oh Lord, Our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth.” And just think, the God that synchronized, orchestrates, and sustains the universe in its orbit has a blueprint for your life!
