The Psalmist, in Psalm 65, exhort us to sing. He writes, “We all arrive at your doorstep sooner or later, loaded with guilt, our sins too much for us—but you get rid of them once and for all.” This powerful confession captures the experience of every honest soul who finally comes face to face with God. We drag along the weight of our failures, regrets, and hidden shame. We try to hide it, excuse it, or bury it beneath busyness and pride, yet sooner or later we discover the truth—we cannot cleanse ourselves. But God can. He does not turn us away when we collapse at His feet. Instead, He lifts the burden from our shoulders. He forgives fully, freely, and forever. Once that happens, what else can we do but burst into praise? Forgiveness is fuel for worship. It awakens song in a heart that once could only sigh. The weight of sin is replaced by the wonder of grace, and the forgiven soul cannot help but sing.
And so today, here is my song to You, Lord: You are the Earth tamer, ocean pourer, mountain maker, hillside dresser, sea storm breaker, wave stiller, miracle worker, spring shower bringer, golden wheat fields painter, grain grower, fruit ripener, flower bloomer, strength giver, sun riser, moon shiner (not the illegal kind), life enricher, hope springer, mood enhancer, life motivator, sin remover, hurt healer, hand holder, vow maker, and the original promise keeper! You are the hill dancer and the song inspirer!
Who would not sing to such a God? Who could remain silent before One who forgives sin, heals the broken, and sustains the weary? You are not a distant deity but the Lord who stoops down to lift us up. You scatter blessings across the earth—from the rolling tide to the ripening harvest—and yet You still know the ache of every human heart. You turn guilt into gratitude, despair into dancing, and prayer into praise. When Your grace touches a life, music begins to rise. That is why those who have had their sins removed and their guilt lifted write and sing glorious songs to You. They cannot stay quiet. So, “Let them shout, and shout, and shout! Oh, oh, let them sing!” Let them “Echo with joyful song!” The psalm begins with the idea that those who do not know God’s forgiveness will look at us and our joy and become jealous—and well they should. For there is nothing on earth that compares to being forgiven, restored, and loved by You. Let the world see our joy. Let our praise be loud. Let our hearts overflow. For You alone are worthy of endless song.
