Moses explains why God’s people should obey God’s instructions for life in the first 8 verses of Deuteronomy chapter 4.

The first reason is that obedience to God will bring life and success.  H says, “And now, O Israel, listen to the statutes and the rules that I am teaching you, and do them, that you may live, and go in and take possession of the land that the Lord, the God of your fathers, is giving you.”

The second reason is that obedience to God will bring honor and respect.  Moses goes on, “See, I have taught you statutes and rules, as the Lord my God commanded me, that you should do them in the land that you are entering to take possession of it. Keep them and do them, for that will be your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples, who, when they hear all these statutes, will say, surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.”

Madonna was quoted in Vogue Magazine as saying, “My drive in life is from this horrible fear of being mediocre. That’s always been pushing me, pushing me. Because even though I’ve become somebody, I still have to prove that I’m SOMEBODY. My struggle has never ended, and it probably never will.”

Obey God; He’ll take care of the rest.
