Leviticus 6:12, makes it clear that the fire on the altar of sacrifice should never go out. Then verse 13 says it again, the “fire shall be kept burning on the altar continually; it shall not go out.” It was to be kept burning 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The altar was the place where sinners came to receive forgiveness. It was open all the time. God never closes his doors for holidays, or weekends, and he doesn’t keep bankers’ hours. He’s there all the time even in the middle of the night. When we need to make a spiritual withdrawal we don’t have to wait for business hours. He’s there ready, willing, and able.

Psalm 121 is a favorite. It says, “…he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you— the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”
