God cares about the poor and made provision for them in the law. In Exodus 22:25 and following we read where we should lend to the poor without interest, we should leave someĀ  crops in the fields for them. We should not take their basic necessities as colateral. The poor must be given equal treatment under the law. God says in verse 27 regarding the poor, “if he cries out to me, I will hear, for I am compassionate.”

It’s interesting how often “Justice” and “compassion” are linked together. Isaiah 30:18 puts them together regarding God’s attitude toward sinners. It says, “Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; he rises to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of Justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!”

When it all falls apart, cry out to God. He is compassionate and he will hear. When the heavens seem to turn a deaf ear to your cry, just wait. You will find “blessings” in your patience to let God handle things.
