God leads us into difficult situations sometimes to teach us that we can depend on Him. His promises will nourish and strengthen us to persevere through them all.

In Exodus chapter 16, God leads Israel out of Egypt and into the wilderness where the first thing they encounter is lack of food. The people attack God’s motives for this hardship. They actually say in Verse 3, “for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger.”

Sometimes I think God is trying to kill me also. Don’t you? But God’s purpose through all the trials of life is to draw our attention to His Word. His promises will carry us through.

Deuteronomy 8:3 explains God’s purpose clearly. “He put you through hard times. He made you go hungry. Then he fed you with manna, something neither you nor your parents knew anything about, so you would learn that men and women don’t live by bread only; we live by every word that comes from God’s mouth.”

Be sure to gather your daily manna.
