As we approach the end of 2 Samuel we find samuel recording David’s songs right here in the story line. Chapter 22 sounds so familiar to us because it’s similar to many Psalms. It marks the end of David’s long ordeal with Saul and his enemies within the Land of Isreal, as well as his struggles with his external enemies the Philistines. God did just what he had promised to do for David. David explodes in songs of praise: You hold me safe beyond the reach of my enemies;you save me from violent opponents. For this, O Lord, I will praise you among the nations;I will sing joyfully to your name.”

God has promised us eternal life through our faith in His Son, Jesus Christ. God always does just what he promises! All of the Lord’s words prove true! We will one day unite our hearts in this joyful song with David: The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the strength of my salvation, and my stronghold,my high tower, my savior, the one who saves me from violence. I will call on the Lord, who is worthy of praise, for he saves me from my enemies.”
