1 Samuel 22 tells us that David attracted all those who were in distress or in debt or discontent. In other words he was a refuge for all those who were “down and out.” They look to David for deliverance

David looks to God. In Psalm 57, David explains that no matter what is happening in his life. No matter how “cast out” he is he will never stop trusting God. He will not let his circumstances rob him of his joy. In vs 2 he says it is God “who fulfills His purpose for me.” I’m not going to be afraid of those who plan my destruction. It’s not a time to grieve, it is a time to sing. In verse 7 & 8 He says: My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast, I will sing and make music. Awake, my soul! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn.

Lord, teach me to sing in the face of my trials.
