Sometimes we all can identify with David’s cry… “I’m one miserable wretch.” I’m always sinning and getting in trouble and “every time I’m in trouble I call on you. I put myself in your hands.”TM You are the one, God. You are one of a kind. There isn’t even anyone or anything that we can use to compare you with. You are the one and only….. “…You are both tender and kind, not easily angered, immense in love, and you never, never quit.”TM I’m so thankful of that, because if I were you, I would have given up on me a long time ago. (I’m one miserable wretch!)
“Train me, God to walk straight! Then I’ll follow your true path…”TM Show me the way Lord! I want to know and understand your plan and purpose for my life. Then, train me, discipline me, teach me, over and over, so that “I’ll follow your true path” faithfully at last. I keep failing you and having to come back to get forgiveness so that I can start over! (I’m so sick of me!) I’m one miserable wretch! One day I’m good, the next day I fail miserably! Lord, “put me together, one heart and one mind, then undivided…”TM I’ll follow you with all my heart, all my mind, and all my strength. The final verse is great: David confidently asserts that God will “gently and powerfully, put me back on my feet.”TM
“It will always be worthwhile to serve the one who alone is God.”JT
